Reasonable animation and a bit better humor than I'd expected propelled this film along fairly well... until the road actually reached El Dorado, where the film seems to lose its way for a good twenty minutes. The recovery gets you a decent ending but can't quite erase the dull spots. And -- I say this as an old-school Elton John fan, too -- the songs really, really, suck. They're not wall to wall, but that doesn't matter when they suck this bad. B-
