Good performances, great cinematography and design and clever writing can't save this inventive film from itself -- more specifically, a storytelling decision about two thirds in that, to some of my friends, creates a magnificently deep and meaningful experience. However, I thought that after some seriously anarchistic thinking, it wrote itself into a corner and couldn't think of a way out. It is not, however, bad studio product devoid of intelligence and creativity like so much else out there. I was disappointed, but I can live with a bad creative decision in what is a very personal, passionate, energetic vision. Just as long as I don't have to see 'Story of Us' ever again. B-
